Small Claims Court
As of October 1, 2025, the Small Claims Court limit in Ontario has increased to $50,000 — making it more important than ever to have qualified representation on your side. Whether you are a Vaughan business owner pursuing an unpaid invoice, an individual seeking compensation for damages, or someone defending against a claim, Judi Simms Paralegal provides skilled representation throughout the entire Small Claims Court process.
Our Small Claims Court services include:
- Case evaluation and strategy
- Document preparation and court filings
- Evidence gathering and organization
- Mediation and settlement negotiation
- Representation at hearings and trials
With the court’s increasing emphasis on evidence-based proceedings and professional representation, attempting to navigate Small Claims Court alone carries real risk — especially for claims approaching the new $50,000 limit. Our team brings the expertise and courtroom experience to present your case effectively.
Landlord and Tenant Matters
Vaughan’s booming real estate market has made landlord and tenant disputes increasingly common. Whether you are a property owner dealing with non-payment of rent, seeking to reclaim your unit, or a tenant whose rights have been violated, Judi Simms Paralegal provides experienced representation before the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB).
Important legislative changes under Bill 60, passed in November 2025, have significantly altered the landlord and tenant landscape in Ontario. Key changes include:
- Landlords may now apply to the LTB for eviction for non-payment of rent within 7 days of serving an N4 Notice (previously 14 days)
- Fixed-term leases no longer automatically convert to month-to-month tenancies
- Landlords issuing an N12 Notice for personal use are no longer required to provide one month’s rent compensation, but must provide 120 days’ notice
- The appeal period has been reduced from 30 to 15 days
These changes have real and immediate consequences for both landlords and tenants in Vaughan. Our team stays current on all legislative developments so you can act quickly and correctly.
Our landlord and tenant services include:
- Review and preparation of all required LTB forms and notices
- Lease agreement review
- Representation at LTB hearings
- Guidance on eviction proceedings
- Advice on tenant rights and remedies
